The Brief
The brief for the Canon campaign aimed to inspire the audience to explore a variety of lenses to capture subjects in new and interesting ways, or simply with higher quality than before. The campaign’s layout, designed to be energetic, bold, and confident, utilized a grid system to showcase 1, 2, 3, or 4 examples of images taken with different lenses, illustrating the versatility and unique qualities of each lens. By showing multiple angles of the same subject, the campaign effectively highlighted how the right lens can transform a good photograph into a great one.
The Solution
With Cape Town’s diverse talent pool and incredible locations, we opted for shooting at the vibrant Philippi Village, which boasts a unique blend of urban, rural, industrial, and natural elements, contributing to its distinctive character within the city. For the beach scenes, we chose the stunning Camps Bay beach, known for its palm tree-lined walkways and picturesque views. The talent did not disappoint; we cast incredible street dancers, fitness and sports enthusiasts, and captured the rich diversity of ethnicities that Cape Town has to offer. These choices perfectly aligned with the brief’s call for versatility and dynamic visuals, resulting in a campaign that truly showcased the capabilities of Canon’s lenses.
