The Brief

They wanted an authentic-looking winter wonderland to showcase their latest kid’s range for their Elefanten Deichmann Campaign. The challenge was to create a winter atmosphere in Cape Town while dealing with the sweltering heat of a South African sun. We got our team at Gavin Schneider Productions together and came up with a creative solution that would allow us to simulate snow and create a cold-looking environment.

The Solution

We were able to source tons of environmentally safe, biodegradable polystyrene balls from a local company in Cape Town that were projected from a snow-simulating machine to create snowfall. This solution not only provided an authentic winter atmosphere but was also environmentally friendly.

In addition to the snow, we also acquired a genuine American steel riveted Airstream Caravan, which added to the authenticity of the shoot. Despite the challenges of creating a winter wonderland in the heat of an African (Capetonian!) summer, we were able to make it happen. The Elefanten Deichmann Campaign was a success.
