The Brief

Louis Vuitton approached us at Gavin Schneider Productions to create a visually captivating campaign titled “The Journey.” The objective was to showcase the brand’s products, particularly the iconic Louis Vuitton Luggage while capturing the essence of adventure and luxury. The campaign aimed to resonate with the target audience and reinforce Louis Vuitton’s reputation as a leader in the luxury industry.

The Solution

We embarked on an ambitious journey to bring “The Journey” campaign to life. The team enlisted the expertise of renowned photographer Annie Leibowitz to capture the visuals. In addition, the campaign featured the participation of Bono, the acclaimed musician, and his wife Ali Hewson, creating a trifecta of famous names at the top of their games.

To achieve the desired aesthetic, we sourced two Trail Dragger Bush Planes and extensively scouted locations throughout Kenya. After careful consideration, a tented lodge in the Mara was selected, offering a picturesque backdrop that embodied the spirit of adventure and luxury.

However, unforeseen circumstances arose…

…When the entire region experienced flooding just weeks before production. In response, the team swiftly relocated the shoot to Tswalu, a lodge close to the Botswana border. Despite the challenges, the production company managed to accommodate a group of thirty people, including Bono, Hewson, and Leibowitz, in a lodge designed for fifteen.

The resulting campaign, known as “The Journey,” exceeded expectations and garnered international success. The collaboration between Gavin Schneider Productions and Louis Vuitton, in partnership with the Louis Vuitton agency, Ogilvy Paris, effectively conveyed the brand’s message of adventure and luxury. The captivating visuals and renowned talent involved in the campaign successfully resonated with audiences worldwide.
